Our pastor, Dr. B.J. Norrix, was recently in Uganda along with 4 others: Rev. Linda Prell (Associate Pastor at Christ Community UMC), Rev. Clair Mosher (Onativia Erieville UMCs), Barbara Walter (retired teacher), and Kathy Walter (ESL specialist).
Pastor B.J. left October 9 following morning worship and returned October 27. While he was on the mission field he:
- taught teachers,
- preached,
- worked with Nexus Seminary students,
- dedicated a water well,
- and whatever else the Ugandans had for him.
A word about Nexus Seminary:
Nexus is a certificate level training program designed for rural Ugandan pastors. It includes 20 courses taught once a month over a two year span. The goal is to train 2,000 pastors in 20 years. 44 students graduated in Kikyusa, Uganda this past October, which put the seminary just short of the 200 mark.
Kirimandagi Orphans
The people of Christ United Methodist Church along with the people of Christ Community United Methodist Church have come together to help Ugandan Orphans attend school. The cost for a Ugandan child to attend school is $100. We are helping the students of the Blessed Primary School in Kirimandagi, Uganda, by raising and donating money to sponsor 14 orphans.

Nexus Seminary Publications
The 2012 year will make the first in-house-developed publications for the Nexus Seminary Uganda. The Rev. Dr. B.J. Norrix has written the “Biblical and Theological Sampler” for the Nexus students (current and graduated). The “Biblical and Theological Sampler” surverys the Bible and presents a compact dictionary of commonly used theological terms. The book also presents several “specail articles” on diverse biblical topics as “Women in Ministry” and “Stewardship.” This book is being translated into Lugandan and will be published in parallel to be used as a teaching tool and to make its usefulness as wide as possible.
The Rev. Davis Matovu has written a commentary on the “Book of Revelation,” which is nearing readiness for publication. This commentary will be published with the Biblical and Theological Sampler and is a thorough, scholarly examination of the “Book of Revelation” utilizing appropriate hermeneutical principles.
Publication costs for the first 1,000 copies of these books are initially estimated to be from $4,000 to $5,000.
If you would like to support these publications please contact Dr. B.J. Norrix at 716-839-2460 or you can contact the church office at 716-839-2460.
